Scam text messages impersonating Heritage Bank

Scammers are posing as Heritage Bank in a new text message phishing scam.

Scam phishing text messages impersonating Heritage Bank are currently doing the rounds.

About this scam

These scam messages claim to be a:

  • A notification from Heritage that a new device has logged into your account, or;
  • One Time Password (OTP) from Heritage.

They ask you to click a link to cancel or update your details if you did not issue the request. 

Genuine text messages from Heritage will NEVER ask you to click on a link to cancel an action or confirm details.

If you unsuspectingly click on the link and share information, you are at risk of having your personal information stolen and having your Heritage Online accounts accessed by unauthorised persons. 

If you are concerned that unauthorised actions have been taken on your Heritage account contact Heritage immediately. 

You can also view the activity that has occurred on your membership via Heritage Online and the Mobile Banking App, by logging into Heritage Online.

Important:

  • Be wary of unsolicited emails and text messages containing links or attachments. Do not click on any links or share any personal information.
  • Genuine messages from Heritage will never include a link that asks you to click through to confirm actions or details including personal info such as your PIN, CCV number, internet banking passwords or credit card details. 
  • We will never ask you to reveal a One Time Password (OTP) to us – that is private and individual to you. Genuine one-time password (OTP) text messages from Heritage do not contains links.
  • If you think you have visited a fake website and provided sensitive information, change ALL your Heritage Online passwords and call us immediately on 13 14 22.
  • While Heritage may send information, or confirm receipt of items, by text message or email, we will NEVER send requests for you to share personal security details such as your PIN, CCV number, internet banking passwords or credit card details. 
  • ALWAYS check the authenticity of any unsolicited call, email or message.  You can confirm if the communication is genuine by calling Heritage Bank directly on 13 14 22 or emailing info@heritage.com.au.
