Logan-based charity Touch of Hope has received a helping from Heritage Bank to support people experiencing homelessness.

Touch of Hope was presented with a cheque for just over $3,215 at Heritage Bank’s Loganholme Branch thanks to funds raised by the 2023 Heritage Bank calendar.

Run by volunteers, Touch of Hope has supported the Logan community for seven years. Originally set up to assist people experiencing domestic violence, they also provide clothing, blankets and toiletries to the homeless.

Heritage Loganholme Branch Manager Michael Ham said it was extremely rewarding to support essential community organisations like Touch of Hope.

“Funds from the sale of the calendar will be used to purchase IT equipment that their homeless clients can use to assist them with day-to-day online activity needs,” Mr Ham said.

“These clients are either homeless or very disadvantaged and do not have their own devices to use.

“With the cost of living at an all-time high, it’s great to join with the community through our calendar to support Touch of Hope and people experiencing hardship,” he said.

“They do an amazing job breaking down barriers for those at risk or experiencing homelessness by providing essential services, such as nourishing food, community library and more.

“Everything they provide relies on donations from local supermarkets and businesses, reducing waste, and providing donated goods to those who are doing it tough.”

In a much-loved tradition that began in 1982, Heritage selects a historically significant Queensland home to feature on its printed calendar each year. Copies are made available to the public for a gold coin donation, with proceeds donated to a number of charities around southern Queensland and New South Wales. Since donations began in 2006, over $383,000 has been distributed to 73 community organisations.
